About AustinTriSwimmer

AustinTriSwimmer was started by Greg Goulet. He grew up swimming in Central Texas and swam for Churchill High School in San Antonio, Texas. In 1980, Greg set state records in the 200 and 500 yard Freestyles and was named Male Swimmer of the year. He swam one year at Auburn University and competed at the NCAA championships his freshmen year, but an injury ended his competitive swimming career.

After 25 years of not swimming, in 2007, he competed in two sprint triathlons. During the 2008 triathlon season, he competed in several triathlons including the Lonestar Half Ironman, the CapTex Triathlon and the Austin Triathlon, finishing at or near the top of the swimmers in each event.

Greg started AustinTriSwimming for 3 reasons:

  1. In the Austin area there are several running and cycling experts, but no one who specializes in the swimming portion of a triathlon
  2. Many experienced triathletes do not understand the proper swimming technique and do not understand proper swim training methods
  3. In speaking with people about triathlons, many people want to complete a triathlon, but they fear the swim leg

Greg is currently a USA Swimming registered coach and is an assistant coach for the National Group at Nitro Swimming
